It's almost Christmas. Possibly, some of us, will be able to receive a vaccine to protect, to some extent, from the Coronavirus. The medical community and the government believe that the vaccines will only be effective if at least 70-80% of the population receives it. As supply will not meet the criteria to accomplish this feat until Summer 2021, it's going to be a long winter and spring. However, people have demonstrated a reluctance in taking the "shot."
I have been vaccinated for everything you can be vaccinated for since childhood. And that was a very long time ago. I have received the flu vaccine for 20 years. And I have never been sick or got the flu. Knock on wood. I received every childhood vaccine to prevent childhood diseases. Recently, I took my first of two shots to protect me from Shingles, the adult version of Chicken Pox, which I had an extremely mild case as a child. I will receive my second shot in about two weeks. Happy Christmas to me!
The question on everyone's lips is Should I take that Coronavirus vaccine? If my doctors, who I have to trust, them and the science behind the vaccine, tells me take the two-part vaccine, I will take it. I have been hunkering down at home for about a year now. I have no interest to rub elbows or move about crowded rooms or large crowds in outdoor spaces. So, I'm perfectly content to stay home and quarantine until the summer. As I see the number of Covid related illnesses and deaths climb exponentially daily, I want to avoid as many people as much as humanly and inhumanly possible. Let's face it. I'm no fan of people. Most people are idiots and lack the common sense for self survival. That's why there are sooooo many cases of Covid.
So, my opinion is get the vaccination when it is your turn.
Of course, the vaccination is not a "Get-outta-jail-free" card. It's a step toward eradicating but probably only controlling the infection rate of the virus. Think about it. We get the flu shot every year. Why? Because the flu, like the common cold, has never been totally eradicated. The vaccine is one of our many defenses. The others being wearing masks, washing your hands often and avoiding sick people. Seriously. If you know anyone who is wheezing, coughing, sneezing, vomiting, etc., avoid them, well, like the plague. Because they may be carrying the plague.
I know many people think masks are a pain in the ass and some ignorantly or stupidly refuse to wear them, like our pumpkin-headed President. Don't be like him. He's a loser and will be unemployed come the end of January. Wear a mask. I intend to wear a mask until there are no new daily cases and the deaths are 0. And then I intend to wear a mask all winter long until spring for the rest of my days.
Whenever they show video of China, no matter what time of year it is, there are always Chinese wearing masks. Year-round! Why?
With a population and population density more than four times ours, it's no wonder they wear masks. A guy could sneeze a half mile away and infect a few hundred people in his radius through a domino effect. Seriously. It's not scientific. It's purely conjecture, but it seems to make sense. If you are in the middle of an Iowan cornfield and cough out a stream of Coronavirus and your nearest neighbor is a half mile away, you're not likely to infect anyone. In China, they're so stacked up that it's a wonder that more people were not infected or killed by this virus. I know. We are all thinking it. They didn't tell us the true numbers. We know they can't be trusted. And we should not ever trust them. They hate us. They sell us defective merchandise and steal our jobs. That, of course, is the fault of the greedy three-per-centers that sit at the top of the American financial pyramid.
So, get your vaccine. Practice social distancing. Wear a mask. And wash your hands. All the time. You shouldn't need to be told to wash your damn hands. Common sense dictates to keep your hands clean before touching food or anything that goes in your mouth. Remember most of all. The vaccine will not make you invincible. Due diligence and following health safety protocols will. Sort of.
Until next time, keep your powder dry. Stay safe. Stay home. TTFN.
