30 Day Writing Challenge: Day 30 - 30 Days of Highs & Lows

Day 30, the last for this challenge for now - "Your highs and lows for the month".

OK.  Who says Daddy Tom doesn't come through on a commitment?  No, really, I want to know who says this thing because I'm going to hunt them down and kick their ever loving...Sorry, must work on those anger issues.  JK.  I'm am happy that I successfully completed a somewhat meaningless challenge with two of my favorite women, my sister, Sandi and my cousin, Marianne.  (I am not allowed to say my favorite cousin, because I'd have about 100 of them disappointed (relieved) or angry (really relieved) with me.  Also, kidding.  I'm a lovable stooge.  Well, on with the show.

A lot has happened the last 30 days.

Highs
  • I wrote 30 blogs and people actually read them...and possibly even liked them.
  • I have grown closer to many family members.
  • Kelsey Grammer is back on TV (Partners)
  • My favorite Summer shows are back:  The Bridge, Masters of Sex, Face Off and Beat Bobby Flay.
  • I bought a new computer/tablet...Microsoft Surface Pro 2.
  • I got to take a few days off and did something fun...like watch the Phillies lose at Citizens Bank Park, but had some good food and drink at Chickie's and Pete's.
  • I finished reading A Game of Thrones.  Started reading the next book in the series, A Clash of Kings.
  • I have made a connection with a female co-worker who used to be an editor who will edit my next writing project.  I'm thrilled.

Lows
  • Robin Williams died.
  • Work has been especially hectic and stressful this last month.
  • I have not gotten one potential buyer to look at my house.  It's been for sale for a little over 30 days.
  • My blood sugars and diabetes is fairly under control except I've gained back most of the weight I had lost over the last year or so.
  • I need to do something to lose weight.  I don't like to workout or gyms.
I am done for now.  Now a few well deserved days off from writing, then on to the next project.  Keep watching for my next posting.  TTFN.

  1. Keep on writing!
And think about walking....with or without a headset...I'm sure you must have some nice parks near you...or walk in your lunch hour - it gets you away from the those little things that are sent to try us....and it's very good for you...
TTFN? Try "taraa" us Scouses never pronounce our "t's"....God, I miss my England...a visit is clawing at my shoulder but me Mum will be 89 yrs. old soon and is not capable of the trip...so...'tis a little trapped I am...
Give the house some time...I used to be in Real Estate (agent) and some go in a heartbeat and some don't...make sure you don't have an OPT (over-priced turkey) and try and find out what others are selling for in your neighbourhood (your agent should be doing this for you)...ask for comps. from the M.L.S. - your agent should also have this are under control...and remember....you want the best selling price you can get and the potential buyer wants the best buying price they can get....time for negotiation......
I, too , am very upset over Robin Williams' death....hard to believe....will be watching the special on him tonight at 10PM.
Last time I felt this sad over a celebrity death was when John Lennon was murdered.
    Stay in touch and....nil carborundum...

How The New Mexican Government And Prison System Failed Its People

Anyone who knows me knows I like mystery and crime stories, especially true crime. So, I am a huge fan and viewer of the Investigation Discovery network. I view many programs and have my favorites. One show I recently stumbled upon was "Surviving Evil" hosted by the stunning actress, Charisma Carpenter , who herself a crime survivor. She and two friends suffered at the hands of a violent serial rapist and police officer Henry Hubbard, Jr. on San Diego's Torrey Pines State Beach in 1991. I don't want to go on about her, her surviving her attack or even the ID program, which airs Thursdays at 9 pm and re-airs throughout the week and is available On Demand. Well, actually, I do want to speak about one episode from the current season (the 3rd season), but not the show as much as how the law failed to truly punish the perpetrator of this crime. The show titled "Escaping The Arroyo" interviews the one surviving victim and tells the horrific story about two whi...

My First Blog

Unless I'm already mentally or emotionally stirred up I find it difficult to start anything.  Be it a rant, a conversation or a writing.  I'm sure if I don't get bored or disillusioned I will have something interesting or controversial to say.  I might even drop an occasional F bomb.   As this is my first outing, I will insert many random thoughts that clearly will lack continuity or proper linkage.  I will sound like a mental patient or someone suffering from Alzheimer's.  For instance, tomorrow is my birthday.  I turn 55.  Who cares, right?  Why are we so self-absorbed with ourselves?  I know from my POV I want to rule the world, be famous and shag any girl I desire.  I also know, as I'm sure you do too, that that's just not going to happen...ever.  But without these little dreams/daydreams I'd find it more difficult to crawl out of bed most mornings.   Random thought #2:  How do people quote lines by fa...

Coronavirus, Part 19 - Vaccines

It's almost Christmas. Possibly, some of us, will be able to receive a vaccine to protect, to some extent, from the Coronavirus. The medical community and the government believe that the vaccines will only be effective if at least 70-80% of the population receives it. As supply will not meet the criteria to accomplish this feat until Summer 2021, it's going to be a long winter and spring. However, people have demonstrated a reluctance in taking the "shot."  I have been vaccinated for everything you can be vaccinated for since childhood. And that was a very long time ago. I have received the flu vaccine for 20 years. And I have never been sick or got the flu. Knock on wood. I received every childhood vaccine to prevent childhood diseases. Recently, I took my first of two shots to protect me from Shingles, the adult version of Chicken Pox, which I had an extremely mild case as a child. I will receive my second shot in about two weeks. Happy Christmas to me! The questio...
